Mid century hanging lamp with glass elements in the shape of ijs. This beautiful chandelier was manufactured by the famous brand Kalmar Franks (Austria) in the 60's.
 
The glass is supported on 2 levels by a metal construction. The irregular design of the glass ensures a nice distribution of the light. The original manufacturer's sticker is present inside the chrome ceiling cap.
 
The lamp is in beautiful vintage condition, only a little corrosion can be seen here and there on the metal, which is not noticeable when the lamp is hung.
 
Throughout his career, the Austrian designer designed JT Kalmar lighting fixtures for many renowned architects, as well as for important institutions, e.g. the Vienna Opera and the Vienna Stock Exchange. In the last decade of his life, Kalmar developed a number of very popular lighting collections, including Tulipan (ca. 1960), Ice Glass (1960) and Atomic (1969).
 
Kalmar lighting can be found in prominent locations around the world, including the RMS Queen Mary 2, the Moscow Kremlin Presidential Palace and the Burj Tower in Dubai.
