The fascination for space and space travel was enormous at the time of the space race (late 1950s to mid-1970s). This translated into the design movement 'Space Age' which influenced architecture, movies & music, fashion, interior design, etc.
 
This large and quite rare luster is a fine example of Space Age design from the sixties. The metal frame carries 30 rings with each the planet Saturn in the center. These rings are divided over 4 levels with a total of 6 light points.
 
The luster is in beautiful vintage condition. Here and there the silver color on the planets is slightly less present and in one of them there is a slight distortion on the outer ring. Here and there a very slight form of erosion is visible on the metal frame, but all these signs of wear, which are typical for the age, are certainly not disturbing.
