Space Age table lamp designed in 1972 by Aloys Gangkofner for Erco Leuchten.
A lampshade made of opaline glass rests on top of the conically shaped brushed aluminum base. The latter ensures a nice distribution of the light.
The lamp is in beautiful vintage condition. The pedestal has signs of wear in the form of (light) scratches, but in my personal opinion these are not really disturbing (see photo).
Aloys Ferdinand Gangkofner was born in Reichenberg (Germany) in 1920. In addition to his activities as a specialized teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, he also worked as a freelance designer at the renowned Peill & Putzler as well as at ERCO Leuchten. Several of his realized designs were awarded an IF Design Award. He also became an Honorary Member of the Academy of Fine Arts in the city of Munich, where he died in 2003.
