Beautiful mid-century tripod cocoon floor lamp from the 1960s.
The shade, reminiscent of George Nelson's "bubble lamp," was created using a unique technology called "spray-on fiberglass coating," a technique inspired by the silkworm. This explains why the lamp is also known as the cocoon lamp.
The Cocoon lampshade stands on a metal tripod with a brass accent. The lamp is in beautiful condition and creates a lovely ambient light. There are minor signs of wear on the tripod, which contribute to the patina (see photo).
A beautiful lamp that looks great in any type of interior, from vintage to modern.
