Seat called RH-301 designed by Robert Haussmann in 1954. This seat was made by the very respectable Swiss company De Sede.
Robert Haussmann, a Swiss architect, designed the seat as a tribute to his idol Mies van der Rohe. Similarities can be drawn between the famous Barcelona seat and the RH301. For example, the frame is made of hard steel with a high-gloss chrome finish. The webbing that supports the cushions is also made of heavy harness leather. The separate cushions for the back and seat are upholstered with piping and high-quality leather, including the buttons.
The seat is in beautiful condition. The frame shows some light spots of oxidation here and there but in my personal opinion this is not disturbing (see photos). The cushions were reupholstered with high quality leather, whereby the original webbing was retained, which gives a beautiful patina look.
The design of the RH-301 was awarded the ' Compasso D'oro ' distinction. This is the most prestigious design award from Italy after an idea by Gio Ponti.
