Wall unit with sliding doors designed by Poul Cadovius in the 1950s. Behind both sliding doors are 2 drawers and 2 shelves, all adjustable in height. The finish of the drawers bears witness to pure craftsmanship.
This wall unit was originally part of the Royal System wall system but was fitted with metal legs by the previous owner. As a result, it has become a practical and stand-alone wall unit. Although the white color of the sliding doors is not original, it forms a beautiful and successful contrast with the dark wood color.
The cabinet is in beautiful vintage condition; there are some scratches visible at the top and some small holes on the side. None of this is disturbing though.
Poul Cadovius was born in 1911 in Denmark. He soon became a leading furniture designer and founded the furniture manufacturing company Royal System in 1945. His big breakthrough came when he came up with the Royal Systems wall system. He was also one of the first furniture designers who worked with plastic.
